jam
|
From the owners of The Good Life, Massapequa Perk(both in Massapequa Park) and The Republic (Farmingdale), is also Jam which is located at 1025 Park Blvd also in Massapequa Park. Now if you are familiar with the other names mentioned, you know that a visit to Jam will not disappoint.
Jam has been grown to become one of the most popular places during the morning to early afternoon hours to eat and enjoy a very excellent first meal of the day. Many local residents come to the restaurant knowing they better get there early as seating becomes a very high demand if you don not get there fast enough. Even during the nice weather and with the outdoor seating, we suggest that when you visit Jam, you get there and get there as early as possible. Like stated before, if you are familiar with the great food and the great tastes of their other top named restaurants, Jam will be one to add to your list as places to go back to. Known for their breakfast style menu, Jam has everything to suit your needs if you are going for there for your first meal of the day, or if you are reading this and you like to get the day started with breakfast around 12 or 1 o'clock, have no fear. Jam serves until 3. The menu here at Jam is filled with all of the popular breakfast favorites but the cooks and chefs there make it just that much better. For the pancake lovers, how about a nice stack of banana candied walnut pancakes. Or how about the brie blueberry thyme stack. For all you cookie dough fans, their stack of cookie dough pancakes is a must try. Jam also has their own breakfast plate creations. One of the most popular being their Classic Breakfast Plate that comes with 2 eggs, choice of bacon, sausage or canadian bacon, home fries and choice of buttered toast. Going for one of their amazing omelets is also a highly recommended idea as you can order one of four. The philly cheese steak omelet is one that you never see anywhere else. That is made with sauteed rib eye, roasted mushrooms and American Cheese. You can also build your own and include many different options. |
We can go on and on how great this place is but to be honest, even though all what we just described does taste quite amazing and trust us, it most definitely is we suggest you make a trip to Jam next time you are in the area and want to check out a place that you will be visiting quite frequently from then on out.
Croxleys of Farmingdale
Located on one of the most active Main Streets we have here on our island, Croxleys Ale House at 190 Main Street, Farmingdale is a must stop spot when visiting the area. Known for their "world famous" wings and outrageous selections of some of the best craft beers, Croxleys has been and will forever be one of the most enjoyable places to eat and drink.
A large amount of the people that visit this fine establishment, already know about how great the wings and beer are but for our very own Todd Silver and Tales Of The Tatt and Women of Armageddon model, Kristina Amato, they experienced first hand that Croxleys is known for a whole lot more. And it was all thanks to Brian Rasmusson (manager of Croxleys), our waitress Lia for the evening and the rest of the amazing staff that had us come down to try some signature items. When we were seated, Rasmusson came to talk to us and welcome us to Croxleys. He made us feel like we were at home and made the vibe awesome. He told us about the bar and what they were known for. Since we already knew that Croxleys had the best wings on the planet, he also advised us that their mussels are very popular as well. So with out hesitation we had on our table, a very nice size and generous amount of mussels to try which were absolutely incredible and an order of the wings. The mussels were quite tasteful especially since they were made with Heleweisen Ale, shallots and garlic and toasted bread crumbs. We inquired on what kind of wings to try and eventually agreed to try the Srircha style which was a sweet/spicy flavor. This particular flavor is a house special and is usually off the menu. It can be ordered but you need to ask about them. Since Silver is really not a fan of hot/spicy flavored anything he did not feel like this was a bad move. The wings were done perfectly and had an incredible taste. Next was on to the main course. It was hard to believe that Silver and Amato had to keep it going but with such a great mouth watering menu that Croxleys has to offer, they knew they had to continue the fun. Rasmusson told us that they were known for their burgers as well and also had great steaks. Silver being a burger fan opted for one of those. He was told that the Ale House Burger was a favorite and being a fan of 1,000 Island dressing, once he found out that was on the burger he knew that was the one for him. It also came with cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato and was also ordered medium well. Just like the rest of the food already tried, the burger came with the same result. On the other end of the table, Amato who said she |
|
"Never really orders steak" ordered the grilled flat iron. The flat iron came with truffle Gorgonzola fries and salted asparagus. Amato enjoyed the way the cheese melted over everything giving it that much of a better taste. Since she really never orders steak she was quite pleased she did and enjoyed it very much.
When the main course was cleared off and the fun looked like it was over, we were still wrong. "Do you want to try and dessert?'" was what the two heard next. Without a second thought they said yes and Rasmusson told us to try the Cinnamon and Sugar Dusted Zeppole Sticks. Just think zeppoles from the fair but in stick form. They were just as incredible as everything else especially with the chocolate sauce they came with.
As a final extra bonus, Silver and Amato were given a personal tour of the brand new Outdoor/Indoor beer garden that Croxleys is currently in the process of constructing. Not only is this two floor extension going to look amazing and quite different from any other bar, but the roof is retractable meaning it can be open or shut depending on the weather. This new area will be ideal for big parties that want to rent it out but will also be used for additional space when not being rented out.
All in all, it was a great night enjoying some great food and experiencing a top Long Island bar/restaurant to the max. Once again we would like to thank Rasmusson on having us down and treating us first class. If you are reading this and make your way to Croxleys please ask for Brian and tell him you read this review.

burgritos of bethpage
|
We all love burgers. We all love burritos. But what if you were to combine the two? Well if you do that, you get a "Burgrito". Hence the name Burgritos located at 445 Central Avenue in Bethpage. Burgritos opened its doors in the Spring of 2015 and has grown to be one of the most popular eateries in the area. And with excellent food and an awesome staff and crew it really is no surprise.
Owners and brothers Darin and Lawrence Laby both were in the trucking business before taking over and running Burgritos. According to Darin, opening Burgritos has been "A dream come true". He also added that "People love it". We here at LIME can vouch for that. When you walk into Burgritos, you are greeted by a nice menu of choices to select from hanging from above the counter. If you are visiting for the first time ordering the burgrito is a must. Now since you have just read the word "burgrito" about a handful of times already, you might be asking yourself "Ok so what IS a burgrito anyway?" This genius of a creation is a burger, American cheese, bacon for all you bacon lovers out there, french fries, lettuce (which is cut just right and always fresh), tomatoes, onions and to top it all off their very tasty Chipotle sauce all wrapped in a flour tortilla. It is one of its own kind and an amazing little meal. You can order it as well as a combo that comes with fries and a drink. If you are in the mood for a little something less extreme have no fear. Burgritos has everything and anything for all you regular hamburger, burrito and taco fans. Over on the hamburger side you can order just about one with any of the long list of free toppings including bbq sauce, mayo, lettuce, and pickles to name a few. If you want to add some flavor you can also add your choice of cheese, avocado or caramelized onions for just a little bit extra. |
Coming in for just a regular burrito or taco? Burgritos has you covered. You can choose from chicken, steak, pork, shrimp to even falafel. All burritos include rice. pico de gallo, lettuce, sour cream, black beans and both Monterrey and cheddar cheese. The tacos include all as well except the rice, sour cream and black beans.
As if that wasn't enough already and if you are not running out the door yet to head on over and you are still reading this let us tell you about dessert. If you have enough room, their apple cinnamon burrito is another must.
And finally, for all you beer and wine drinkers. YES! Not only does Burgritos have the honor of making and serving you some kick ass food but beer and wine is an option to go with your awesome meal. They also have a special every day where you get a free drink with every two purchased.
We had a lot of fun enjoying our experience here and we hope you do as well. Burgritos does have a rewards club where you receive $5 off every fifth visit which if you think about it is a pretty sweet deal for just visiting a place after the fifth time. Now what are you waiting for. We appreciate you reading this to the end but now since you are done head on over to Burgritos and enjoy yourself.

Madison's smoothie cafe
When it comes to smoothies, we here on Long Island may have a few spots to pick from, but in reality there is only one logical one and that is simply Madison's Smoothie Cafe. Located on Wantagh Avenue in Wantagh, Madison's not only serves you some great tasting smoothies but they offer a very wide menu as well.
Since we are talking about a smoothie shop its only right to start with the smoothies. MSC has a full menu of them with a very nice variety of different combinations. Their menu of these popular drinks are seperated into three different categories: Specialty low fat, Power and Custom Made. Among the specialty low fat you can order a Strawberry Surprise or even a Mango Zango. On the Power side of the menu one can order a Health Blend or even a Nutty Party. The Custom side of the menu is where MSC becomes a little more creative where you an order a Coconut Beach, Madison's Colada or what we tried, a Dylan's Treasure. The Dylan's Treasure was a very good choice. It consisted of a perfect blend of chocolate, ripe bananas and yogurt that was mixed quite well together. We wish we could have tried them all but there is only so much room for one to handle. Not only do you have a tough choice on what smoothie to decides from, but if you are hungry and going there for some food as well, Madison's food menu is one to make you stare for a while as everything listed sounds quite amazing. Breakfast wraps, to quesadillas to pizza, to wraps is what you can find. One of the most popular menu items is their Buffalo Bill Wrap. In it is chicken breast strips, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, hot sauce and |
|
ranch dressing. Once we were told that was a must try, it was an easy choice and a very smart one. The wrap was perfectly made and was very filling. Madison's also has their own salad bar where one can fill up their own bowl with whatever they select. And of course before we end we can't forget to let you know about their amazing flavors of frozen yogurt ranging from the very popular Strawberry Cheesecake, Pumpkin, Peanut Butter and a handful of others. You can fill up a cup for only a small cost and then put in whatever you want from the topping station. MSC also offers great cookies as well.
You can visit Madison's Smoothie Cafe's Wantagh location over at 1896 Wantagh Ave. Definitely stop in if you are in the area and if Rob and Danielle are behind the counter, make sure you tell them hi.

Liege Waffle company
|
Sundays to a lot of people means the end of a weekend and the beginning of yet another long work week the next day. But now, thanks to a "little" creation Sundays around here on Long Island have just started to be exciting again. Situated in North Babylon at the very popular A&G bakery we are very pleased and excited to inform you of the Liege Waffle Company. Who are they and what do they do you may be asking yourself. Well sit back, and enjoy what you are about to read......
The Liege Waffle Company which is owned and created by local baker, Tyler DiFebo is the reason why people rush to A&G the second the iron gets turned on at nine Sunday mornings to get a taste of a very beautiful thing. The Liege Waffle Company takes waffle making to a whole new level. Now, sure we all like waffles and eat them all the time, but not like this. DiFebo, his fiance Becca and his mother team up to make and create waffles like never been seen before. How does a waffle with cannoli cream, cannoli shells and powdered sugar (aka the A&G Special) sound to you? How about the Smores Waffle loaded with marshmallows, fluff, some graham crackers and even some chocolate ganache? Getting you hungry? We certainly hope so. And that is only the beginning. Maybe the Peanut Butter Dream with Reese's peanut butter and some chopped Reese's is more your flavor. And if for some crazy reason non of those sound appealing to you along with all the other great looking combinations Liege can create for you, you may create your own waffle with what ever of the various toppings they may have. DiFebo started making these awesome looking waffles around two years ago for his family and friends to test the waters. At that time he had no idea that what he started would actually amount to anything of this size. Since he is a baker at A&G, he even had his boss try it out. His boss thought they were really good and the two decided to situate Liege right in the bakery during Sunday mornings. Now we here at LIME experienced the madness (and we say madness in a good way) first hand. With a crowd of people that either were waiting on line to |
place their order or waiting inside for their order to the long line outside the door, Liege is no joke. Not only do we recommend you going there but it is highly recommended that you get there as early as possible. If you can/want to camp out the night before that wouldn't hurt as well but we will leave that call up to you. DiFebo, Becca and his mother are usually making waffles until about two o'clock which is usually when they are all tapped out. When asked DiFebo what was the longest wait someone had to endure he told us "From the minute they got on line to the minute they received their order was about 2 1/2 hours". With the company getting much publicity over the last few weeks (most importantly from this one) each week has been getting busier and busier. DiFebo is currently looking to move out of the bakery and into its own location and you can bet as soon as it happens we will be one of the first one to tell you about it. Also it is very important for us to tell you that if a holiday falls out on a Sunday, unfortunately Liege will not be set up at A&G or more then likely if a holiday is on a Monday as well so please check ahead by calling or by friending them on their facebook page. Well that about wraps it up. Is it Sunday yet?
EDITORS NOTE: Liege has moved out of A&G and has moved into their very own Food Truck which is now traveling across the island. Be on the look out for it or check them out on their facebook to see where they will set up next.

JJ's Rockin cupcakes
There is something sweet we have to tell you about and it is located over at 5497 Merrick Road in Massapequa. Whats there you may be asking? Why, its JJ's Rockin Cupcakes of course and "rockin" is exactly what they are doing over there. JJ's is newest thing everyone in the area is talking about and its where everyone in the area and then some (people as far as hour away) is visiting.
There are a lot of good things happening over at JJ's thats making this newest hot spot the one everyone is traveling to. Lets first talk about the obvious. Their cupcakes. Now sure we all had our fair share of cupcakes in our lifetime and of course we all say that those were the best cupcakes we ever had but it only takes one trip to JJ's and you will forget about each and every other cupcake you recently had. That may sound like a big and bold statement but go ahead and try them out to see how accurate we really are. What makes the cupcakes over at JJ's so very different then all the others is the homemade taste. Each and every cupcake is made on the premises and from scratch. The cupcakes that are baked come in a variety of 11-13 different flavors ranging from Fun Fetti, Very Vanilla (vanilla |
|
cake and frosting), Nilla Nilla (vanilla base wafer, vanilla frosting and a vanilla waffer crumble) to even a white Belgian chocolate flavor. The list of flavors goes on but by now you get the idea. Each cupcake not only tastes quite amazing but they look quite amazing as well. On the weekends, JJ's has their "Mini Madness" where customers can buy a variety of their mini cupcakes also.
Now if your mouth isn't watering yet, and if you are still reading this instead of jumping in your car and headed there now we applaud you. JJ's offers a little bit more to their customers. You can order a waffle sandwich, or even a stuffed cupcake which comes with any one of their gelato flavors.
The whole experience however of visiting JJ's is not only the product you get but also by the service you receive which is nothing less then "awesome". When you walk in (especially if it's your first time) you are treated like family. JJ's is run by JJ Hlywiak and his wife Karin. Karin makes the whole experience worth while as she greets you as soon as you walk in the door and also goes over each flavor to make it easy to decide. Karin has been in the entertainment and event planning field for a long time and her background is quite impressive. She even runs her own foundation named "Beautiful Me" which helps girls realize who they truly are. She even has been featured on Channel 7 because of it.
One last thing we would like to mention about JJ's is their incredible birthday package. You can have a childs birthday party thrown there which includes food, drinks, balloons and a paint party. The birthday boy or girl will receive their official chefs hat and everyone will get some cotton candy as well.
So there you have it. We warned you a lot goes on over here at JJ's and we truly hope you head on over and visit them real soon. It will be well worth it.
EDITORS NOTE: Please be advised that the store is now closed but they are still available for orders and catering.
All American wontons
Wonton- A type of dumpling commonly found in Chinese Cuisine. (Wikipedia, 2017).
All American Wonton- Take what you have read just above and add the most unique/tasteful flavors and be ready to be AMAZED. That's right folks. We would like to introduce you to All American Wontons and the All American Wonton Family. AAW is not your typical wonton. Not at all and not by any means. AAW takes the wonton approach and brings it all to the extreme. How so? Lets just take you to a few of those reasons. Buffalo Chicken. Taco. Philly Cheese steak. Fig Honey and Goat Cheese. The list goes on and on. And how about those dessert flavors too. Yep. They can be done as well. Banana Nutella. Salted Chocolate Peanut Butter. Cinnamon Roll. Yum. Yum. Yum. Now that we probably have your mouth watering, let us take some of your time to explain about this great company started by owner Kelly Kay. Kay who started AAW not too long ago has created a fine little business that if you have heard of them already, you know what we are talking about. And if you have never heard of AAW well, first things first. We must say sorry you are missing out but now you will know and now you must go out and try. Kay and her workers work tirelessly a few days during the week to create these new wontons with these unique flavors to be shipped out to customers who have placed orders online through their website. AAW is based out of Massapequa but they are not a public food store. In order to taste these little works of art, you must order online over at AllAmericanWontons.Com. Once your order is received, one of the amazing workers of AAW will get your order together and you can be assured they will be shipped right to your door as fresh and as amazing as they were just made. If you have already visited the re-done Nassau Coliseum and AAW sounds familiar, you are probably right. AAW is one of the many concessions that you can order at your event if you are sitting in one |
|
of the suites. Kay is on a roll with getting the name out as she also plans to get the name and product out to the other big arenas and stadiums such as Yankee Stadium and Citi Field. You may also be able to try AAW out if you spot them at one of the many local fairs and festivals that Long Island is known for.
So again, AAW is here. If you are a wonton fan and we just made your dreams come true, then again you must head on over to All AmericanWonton.Com, look over the menu, place an order and we are telling you you will not be disappointed.
*Some photos used have been given to us by AAW for this story*

Dang! bbq
|
Long Islanders, we know that we enjoy our food and we know that we enjoy going out to eat especially trying a new place for the very first time. That is why we our extremely proud to share and introduce you to Dang! BBQ in Islip. Dang! is just not your ordinary bbq. No sir. And not by any means. Dang! is a place in its own league and if you will give us a few minutes of your time, please read on to see exactly what we mean.
Dang! BBQ (174 Islip Ave) who opened their doors in July of 2017 is a place like no other with a menu like no other. Anthony Mastrantonio (owner) who has been in the restaurant and food business since 1993 which includes owning the Bulls I BBQ Company has really out done himself with creating this fine establishment that has all the locals and beyond craving what is served inside. Mastrantonio who also has his daughter Taryn as an owner and Taylor Cianciotto as one of his managers (and also excellent shake maker which will be later discussed) really makes visiting Dang! a really fun spot with an awesome and excellent atmosphere. You are welcomed right away and know once stepping inside, you are ready to start the dining experience of a lifetime. And now that we have you probably wondering what is it that makes Dang! so good, away. We. Go. We sure do love our bbq here on the island and Dang! must be the spot for you to go to try the best bbq around. One out of the many things Dang! is famous for is their list of the variations of mac & cheese. One example is their "Triple B" Cheeseburger which is topped with bacon, burger and beer cheese that's mixed with pickles and tomatoes and topped with Dangs famous buttered pretzel crust and some onion rings. Another way you can order is by getting the Cheeto Chicken Fajita mac & cheese. Served with grilled chicken, and flame roasted peppers along with some onions, Tex Mex Chipotle Queso, this is a easy choice if you enjoy a little kick. You can also create your own combinations by choosing from their mac & cheese "workshop". Another feature that Dang! has is their list of outrageous "Sammiches". And that is not a type-o. 'Sammiches" as they are called are all named and inspired by an old classic film. The signature is called The Big Bad Wolf's Revenge. If you visit Dang! and you are bringing your appetite (which we here at LIME STRONGLY recommend), try to attack the wolf. Think about this: a smoked sweet sausage, stuffed with pork and wrapped in applewood smoked bacon. This is all served on a hoagie roll with spicy bbq, Tex Mex Queso and their ever so delicious creamy cole slaw. Once you |
have it, we guarantee you will be howling to get back and have it again. And yes. We had to say that. Another sammie that is a must try is their Jurassic Pork. The "JP" is a grilled bbq ritto stuffed with pulled pork, all American mac & cheese, smoked bacon and baked beans with some sweet bbq sauce. How do you spell "Yum"? Easy. D-A-N-G.
Even though what was just mentioned should have you racing to the door to head to Dang! right now, Dang! is also famous for year another thing. And that is their shakes. A trip to Dang! is really not complete unless you have one to go along with the incredible food you will be ordering. All shakes are filled to capacity with almost anything you can think of. Ranging from candy to ice cream each shake is well worth trying. You may actually feel bad for drinking them as each one is carefully made and decorated, as they come out as more of a work of art. We were able to try their Trick or Treat Shake which was their featured shake of the month. Halloween themed, the Trick or Treat Shake is a pumpkin pie flavored shake that comes filled with Halloween candy. And a little "blood" to decorate the outside.
We can probably go on and on how great Dang! really is but we just wanted to give you a little preview what you can expect. You got to get there to visit. Dang! is truly a community type of place that even gives our current military and our Vets a discount as well. That right there goes to show you that Dang! is all about appreciating its customers.
We hope you enjoyed what you have just read and we truly hope you get out to visit our friends at Dang! We absolutely know that you will like it as much as we did.

Kannoli Kings
|
Hear ye! Hear Ye! In conjunction with the royal family at Kannoli Kings, we here at LIME have an announcement to make:
And the announcement is pretty SWEET!!! Located at 830 Broadway in Massapequa is a palace you MUST check out. And the reason is pretty simple. It is the home to not only the three coolest kings in the area (Brian, Sal and Kevin), but is also the home to the best tasting, most unique flavors, mouth watering cannolis that our lovely island has to offer. The Kannoli Kings which in deed are just that have opened their palace doors to the public after testing the waters as a food truck. Now, please keep in mind. The food truck is still up and running and can be hired for any of your occasions and events, but the royals would like to invite you to visit them and you will not be disappointed when you do. As Long Islanders, we love our food and sure we all have our favorites of many different types. But one stop to visit the Kings, and this place will have you coming back for a very long time. When we think cannolis, we think dessert. Well the Kings have that covered |
down pat and then some. How does a cannoli with Chocolate Mousse sound? How about one with Caramel French Vanilla? Oreo? Reeses Peanut Butter? Peanut Butter and Jelly? We can go on and on. The flavors that the Kings have come up with are ridiculous (In a good way of course). One stop in there and you will be craving to try them all. Plus you can pick your variety of shells. You can stay original, but hey wheres the fun in that? Pick from Chocolate, Rainbow Sprinkles to Cinnamon and Brown Sugar just to name a few.
And we are just getting started. Because not only can you get yourself a great dessert cannoli, but before you do, the Kings are also known for their Savory Flavors as well. And this LIME Heads, is where our friends at Kannoli Kings stand out from the rest. Savory Cannolis are another must when visiting this fine little establishment. Stuffed in a non cinnamon shell the range of flavors are just incredible. On the menu you can select from barbecue chicken which is stuffed with the obvious bbq chicken, scallions, cheddar cheese, onion straws and topped with a Ranch drizzle. Or you can order a Mashed Potato cannoli that is also stuffed with bacon, scallions and cheddar. Spinach Dip, Mango Salsa, Pulled Pork. You probably must think by now we are making all this up. But hey. We wouldn't do that to you. You have to go there for yourself.
As much as all that sounds like the most incredible thing ever, there are other items the Kings are masters at. To wash everything down, a Kannoli King Cannoli Shake is highly recommended. This is where an entire cannoli is thrown in to the blender along with the other shake ingredients for probably one of the best taking shakes you will ever be introduced to. And before we end, let us tell you about the Kannoli Cake Cups. Yep. Just as you are picturing. Bring one home after your visit. Put it in the microwave for about thirty seconds and enjoy. You can thank us later.
Our visit to see the Kings was just amazing. Brian, Sal and Kevin truly have opened up an excellent business that will have you truly amazed. Friendly customer service, great food and you will absolutely leave happy. What much can you ask for? Go check them out.

Zim Zari
|
Have you ever been in a bind selecting a good restaurant to go to? One with great food. Great atmosphere. And a great menu. Well we here at LIME have found that place. Zim Zari which brings a little West Coast to the East Coast is exactly that. Zim Zari of Massapequa (and the only one on our lovely island) is a must if you are in a taco/burrito/enchilada kind of mood.
Located in the corner of the South Gate Shopping Center on Merrick Road, Zim Zari is a must to try. And trust us. You will not only try it, but you will be back a second and third time and probably many more. Zim Zari like stated already is known for their unique California/ Mexican Grill Cuisine. One look at the menu, and you will want to order one of everything. The menu which is very mouth watering just to read is quite amazing. Lets start off by describing some of their world famous tacos. Filet Mignon, Volcano Shrimp, Surf and Turf just to name a few. All tacos are are a popular item. Especially on Tuesdays when Zim Zari has their weekly "Taco Tuesdays" (where prices are significantly lower) to celebrate the day. Zim Zari also have a bunch of their very unique and outrageous Quesadillas as well. Ranging from a BBQ Chicken to a Pineapple Shrimp, this fine little establishment has something to suit anyone's taste buds. But before you chow down and enjoy your main selection, Zim Zari likes to start you off with the traditional chips and salsa which is always on the house to get you going. Then if you are still a little bit hungry you can always order from one of their amazing appetizers as well. The Chicken Avocado Sun Roll which is a tortilla stuffed with chicken, avocados, cheddar cheese and red onions and served with an awesome mango chili dip is a must. |
According to Assistant Manager Ryan Higbie who has been in the food business for many years (including some time down in New Orleans) at Zim Zari "All sauces are made in house, and we do traditional things well". The summer time is usually busy for them along with one of their most popular and busy days, Cinco de Mayo. That day you will find a big tent out front and a party scene going on from open to close.
What makes a restaurant experience even better is the staff. That's where you will find Jeanine and Magda along with the rest of the friendly people who make up the rest of the staff that will make your visit to Zim Zari a great one. So do yourself a favor. Go visit our friends when you can. You will thank us.

hometown heroes
If you want to be a hero to your friends or to your family then the answer is real simple. To be a hero, take them to Hometown Heroes. Hometown Heroes located at 240 Higbie Lane in West Islip is a sandwich shop like no other. If you want the best around, stopping by HTH is absolutely the way to go.
HTH is that one sandwich shop that you can't find any other heroes like it. Whether you plan on eating there or taking your food on the go, the one thing that anything on the menu shares in common is that you better bring your appetite. The heroes here are incredibly full and filling. And of course anything you purchase is quite tasty as well. Now that we have you itching to find out more and what exactly you can get here, let us explain a little further. One of the reasons people are coming in is to check out their new Chicken Cutlet heroes. One of the most popular is the one named the Insta Mac Attack. Loaded with mac and cheese along with some ranch dressing and bacon all on top of that chicken cutlet, this hero will simply amaze you. By appearance and by taste, we highly recommend this big boy either your first time in or your next. Another famous hero from the chicken cutlet side is the Heavy Hitter, And the title explains just that. Same as the Insta Mac Attack but add cole slaw and gravy instead of the ranch and enough said. Heavy Hitter indeed. HTH also has many other heroes on their menu as well. Heroes both cold and hot with whatever you can think of, you can find it. Everything is always made to order, fresh and amazing. Now even though Heroes is in the name please don't feel that is all you can get. Not even close. HTH has a full menu ranging from breakfast to appetizers (which includes their Mac N Cheese bites which are spectacular) to salads and wraps. Since the food is top notch, the only thing remaining to talk about is the staff and the service. And just like the food, both are excellent. The staff led by Diane, Jackie and Ronnie are extremely friendly and they will make your experience the best. HTH is open six days a week (Mondays being their off day,we are guessing to relax after a busy weekend). If you plan on stopping |
|
on down and we really hope you do so real soon please either come in early or give your self time as once doors open HTH is constantly busy as people come in and out through out the day. Sure. Waiting can be a pain no matter where you are but this wait is well worth it. So go out there and be that MVP. Go visit Hometown Heroes.
pigs on a wing
|
Remember hearing that saying "When Pigs fly". Well, pigs still may not be flying, but you should. You should fly right over to Pigs On A Wing that is. Pigs On A Wing, if you are unaware is spot that you must try. Located on the Northern end of Lindenhurst Village on Wellwood Avenue, Pigs On A Wing has quickly become a very very popular spot.
Started and owned by Kurt Satzinger, Pigs On A Wing has been crazy busy and continue to be busy seven days of the week. Known for their excellent bbq, people have been coming in non stop to try a little of this and a little of that. What are they known for here at Pigs On A Wing? That's easy. The answer. Pigs On A Wing. Coming from the Pink Floyd song, Pigs On THE Wing, Satzinger has created such an amazing item that is famous and known as Pigs On A Wing. And what it's all about will certainly get you craving. Lets start. Take six naked bar style wings. Add some pulled pork on top. And then some grilled onions on top of that and there you have this amazing creation. And of course it will come with your choice of Bleu Cheese or Ranch. But don't be fooled. Pigs is also known for everything else on their delicious menu. As everything is homemade, if you are coming in hungry, it may take you a while to decide. In the mood for something spectacular? Try their Chicken and Waffle sandwich. Two giant waffles with grilled chicken and onion rings in between with a little gravy says it all. An item that may strike you is their Dr. Pepper Pork. Or their Cuban sandwich. How about their beef brisket? No matter what you decide you will go home a happy camper. And of course, |
a bbq meal is not complete unless you have the proper sides. Now as we said everything at Pigs is homemade. And no better way to eat a meal then with homemade sides. Their mac n cheese. Bingo. Cole slaw. Dynamite.
Now on top of all what you just read, how about the service. The service is just as excellent as the food. Pigs is take out but there are a few stools to sit down if you are not in a rush. Whether you are staying or you are going Satzinger and his crew will make you feel right at home and will take the best care of you. So go ahead and get yourself to Pigs On A Wing. It will be well worth your time. You can thank us later.

oconee diner
When it comes to eating, we here on Long Island have so many good choices to pick from. Everyone has their favorites in every category whether its pizza, fast food, Italian, Greek and on and on. And this especially includes diners. With so many to choose from its always hard to pick to go to the one that everyone agrees on. Well. We here at LIME will now make that choice an easy one for you. There are those that are diners but we would like to introduce you to a diner in its own class. Welcome to the Oconee.
The infamous Oconee Diner in Islip is one not to miss. And we will guarantee that once you visit, it will be your diner forever. The Oconee which has been a staple to the area since all the way back in 1958 has been that place that if you are passing through, this is where you go to eat. Even though its been around since then, it has been owned by Gus Tsiorvas and family since 2001. Upon entering the Oconee all staff make it very welcoming which ensures that you made a right decision by walking through those doors. There are a few things that make the Oconee stand out from the rest so we would like to start with the obvious. The food. The food here at the Oconee is beyond excellent. Now most diners are known for maybe one or two things but here at the Oconee it is a known fact that they are known for every creation on their amazing menu. From the start of the day with breakfast, the Oconee is very well known for their amazing pancakes. Their pancakes are so good that people come from all over just to have them. They have also been a hot topic on the news. When it comes to what type of pancakes is the favorite, according to Tsiorvas its Chocolate Chip. And if you ask your waiter, they will even make a face on it for you. If you are not coming in for breakfast that's quite all right. The rest of the menu which we are about to describe should get your mouth watering. One of the many favorite dishes served here at the Oconee is their Chicken Soulvaki. A huge plate with chicken, peppers, onions, tomatoes with rice over pita is a top choice. So is there Big Texan which is an open face sandwich with roast beef and mozzarella on a nice warm garlic roll. Also a top seller are their various types of steaks and their outrageous Chicken Cordon Bleu. If you have room you really can't leave the Oconee without having some dessert. With always a full stacked dessert case with so many things to pick from, we highly recommendation is to get a slice of the cheesecake. And not only just any kind of cheesecake. The Oconee makes |
|
cheesecake like no other. Its a must. One of the reasons why the food here at the Oconee is always so good and fresh is because everything is made on premises.
Now on to the fun. The Oconee not only known for their delectable delights but for their holiday decorating as well. We are not just talking about a window sticker here and there but every inch from outside to inside. You see, during every holiday you can expect to see the Oconee decked out to be one of the most festive places one can be. Its all thanks to Chef William Thompson. Thompson who has been with the Oconee for thirty eight years spends about nine to eleven days (which comes out to about sixty hours) making sure the diner is covered for what ever holiday is coming up. From Thanksgiving to Valentines Day to St. Patricks Day to Halloween and every other holiday in between, you can sure bet that if you visit the Oconee during one of them you will be certainly amazed at the time and effort put in to make the establishment one of the many reasons why Oconee is famous. According to Tsiorvas, the staff along with himself find it very cool to have families come in and take pictures with the giant blow ups and to experience what is set up.
You are really treated more then just a customer when visiting. Its more like family. Every member of the staff is extremely nice and will make your visit such a pleasure. Having a tough choice deciding on what to eat? No problem. Just ask your waiter/waitress and they will be more then happy to help you pick your crave. So please. Stop on by the Oconee when you can. It will be the best decision you will ever make.

simply greekalicious
|
We all know the saying that "Good things come in small packages" and that is exactly true to what is located at 1274 Wantagh Avenue in Wantagh. We here at LIME would like to introduce you to Simply Greekalicious. Upon visiting, we recommend you bringing your taste for the greatest authentic Greek food there is and surely bring your appetite.
The people have truly spoken and they love their gyros among the many other amazing items that you can find on the menu here at Simply. Whether you are coming to eat there either inside or outside during the nice weather or taking it to go, you will go home very full and very happy. People not only come from the immediate area, but as far as Deer Park and Babylon as well. However this 'Licious of a story did not start within these four walls. The story all started when owner Spiro Ploumes started as a food tuck bringing it to local food truck events and fairs. One day he was searching around and found the Wantagh avenue real estate by "mistake". He saw it was up for sale and grabbed it. And the rest as they say is history. So we have Simply Greekalicious still on four wheels and now within four walls. Now as stated, people have been loving the gyros. Beef. Lamb. Or chicken. Whatever is your preference, you will be 100% satisfied with. But trust us LIME Heads. You do not want to be limited to just that. Lets take a look at what else Ploumes and the staff have in store for you. To start, their traditional Avgolemono (Greek egg, lemon chicken soup) is a must to begin. Then to continue if you think you |
can handle it, you must try their own creation of Greek Nachos. With pita chips on the bottom and topped with your choice of the three meats, lettuce, tomato, onion, feta, olives, peppperoncini and of course tzatziki, this Greekalicious item is in its own self reason to come and visit. Another popular and newest item is their Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap. And let us not forget about their platters. Just the right amount and so freshly prepared and cooked the staff here are truly great and know exactly what they are doing.
There is one more thing for us to discuss and that is the dessert with one in particular. The Greek Zeppoles. Different from the zeppoles we know of, the Greek Zeppoles here are made with honey and cinnamon. You can also get some with nutella as well. If it was up to us. We would get an order of each. So LIME Heads. Make yourselves a SIMPLE choice Visit Simply Greekalicious.

across broadway cafe
A is for Awesome. B is for Best. C is for Cool. We could go on to write an adjective for the rest of the 23 remaining letters of the alphabet but those three listed perfectly describe the Across Broadway Cafe (ABC). Located in the five towns area of Hewlett, ABC is definitely a spot not only do you HAVE to check out but a place that you MUST check out.
ABC which is located at 1196 Broadway is that kind of place that you would want to visit over and over again. With its relaxed atmosphere, you kind of feel like you are home but not home. You just get that vibe. From the very friendly staff, to the food you are served, even though ABC might be small in size, it is required that you bring a very big appetite. ABC which came our way in January of 2020 is doing quite well with its Hewlett neighbors. The town is awesome to them. ABC has its regulars that come in who are extremely loyal and in return the crew at ABC like to always give back to them. The reason why the success and the popularity is due to that fact that the people who run ABC know the business. And they should. Owner Ivana Torres has been in the industry for a decade which includes working on a food truck right before she decided to open up ABC. Torres likes being in a restaurant setting more because of its variety that comes with it each and every day. Once Torres and her business partner Ruben Garcia had the location spotted, it was time to select a name. Torres wanted a fun name in the form of an acronym and hence the birth of Across Broadway Cafe was created. We like it as much as ours (Long Island Music and Entertainment- LIME). |
|
Now lets get to the fun part. The reason why you stopped to read this. The main event. The food. ABC known for serving breakfast (don't get fooled though as they serve lunch as well) is on top of their game. If you want an omelet so perfectly cooked, ABC is the spot. We highly recommend the Tomato and Feta. Or if you want such a fluffy, very tasteful stack of pancakes, especially with Nutella where not only you get it drizzled on top but actually mixed in with the batter then Mmm Mmm Mmm. And of course all your other regular traditional breakfast items are on the menu as well.
Coming for lunch? As we said not a problem at all. Lunch items such as a Chicken Sandwich, to a Philly Steak to salads to hot dogs are all available for you to enjoy as well.
ABC is also serving up some fun as they host Latin Nights on Wednesdays and Thursdays. They invite you to come in during it as they prepare a special Latin menu during these nights. which includes tacos to empanadas to everything else. Oh yeah. Everything is made from scratch.
We can go on and on. And on to describe how great this place is but we have to stop. Making the choice to go visit ABC? That should be easy as 1,2,3.

rock city dogs

There is something HOT going on in Bayshore and its coming straight from the grill. Yep. Thats right. Bayshore's very popular and busy Main Street has another reason to get excited for. If you love great food. If you love classic rock and roll. Then you are going to love Rock City Dogs. RCD is not your typical place. By any means. Sure we as Long Islanders love a good hot dog, but walking in to RCD will give you a whole new meaning of what a hot dog is.
Let us explain. Sure we all are a accustomed to the usual toppings on our dogs, but eating at RCD will give you this whole new experience like you have never seen before. First, lets go over this menu. Now you can't call it Rock City and not have your food items named after those classic rock and roll artists. How about trying the Queen Dog. Topped with chili, scallion, cheddar and yes we are about to say dipsy doodles, this hot dog will certainly ROCK YOU. So unique and different, if you are trying out RCD the Queen Dog is a must. The Springsteen is another very different type of dog. Deep fried and topped with relish, mustard and onion rings, if you don't want to let The Boss down, we definitely recommend trying out this dog as well. Like we said, these hot dogs aren't just unique, but according to owner/founder and rock star Stevie Reno, the hot dogs served here at RCD are the best hot dogs in the country. We will give you a taste of one more. The Who is also a must try. Loaded with onion jam, mustard and crispy onion straws this hot dog will become one of your favorites. Now if you are not one to go outside the box and want your regular hot dog fix, and if you are a fan of The Chicago Dog, RCD has you covered there as well. And you will probably never find a better Chicago around then here at RCD. Not only is RCD known for their dogs, but yes. They have other options as well and just like the dogs, their other food items are quite amazing as well. According to Reno, the mac and cheese here at RCD is the best on our island. The Paul McCartney and Wings are a good opening act as is RCD's No Disco Fries. Now lets us continue our little story about the other half of what RCD is all about and that is the rock and roll. Long Islanders love their |
classics. And that is what you are going to get upon entering the doors at RCD. Not only will you hear some of the all time favorites, you will feel it as well as RCD is decorated with pictures and paintings of the artists that paved the way. RCD has it all. Great food. Great tunes And a great time is what one could ask for upon entering an establishment And that is what you will get at RCD.
